PROFILE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL

Entrepreneurs play a vital role in the economic development of any region or country. An entrepreneur is a person who organizes, manages and takes the risk of running an enterprise. Many people believe that entrepreneurs are born and not made. This is partially true, for a few are born as entrepreneurs. But it is proven that with the right type of training and adequate motivation entrepreneurs can be developed. With this objective in mind, we organize a few entrepreneurship development programmes. We regularly invite successful entrepreneurs to share their experience with our students. The Entrepreneurship Development cell is responsible for such activities. The members of the cell include students of all streams who are interested to become entrepreneurs in future. The cell considers that its major role is to develop employment providers and not employment seekers.


Entrepreneurship Development cell as part of value addition in our institution was established in August 2005 for the purpose of planning and implementing entrepreneurship development programs such as training, education, research and consultancy. Today the cell is functioning on full time basis to carry out the activities on day-to-day basis. All the infrastructural required for smooth functioning of the cell were created.


The proposals submitted to Dept. of Science and Technology for organizing Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps(EACs) at KSRMCE, Kadapa was favorably considered and the NSTEDB ( National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board ) Division, DST, New Delhi have been sanctioned 4 EAC’s in the year 2012-13, 2 EAC’s in the year 2013-14 , 1 EAC in the year 2014-15,2 EAC’s in the year 2015-16 , 1 EAC in the year 2017-18 , 2 EAC’s in the year 2018-19 and 2 EAC’s in the year 2019-20.

Some Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs (EAPs) are organized to the students of the college in association with Andhra Pradesh Industrial and Technical Consultancy (APITCO), Kadapa, periodically.


Dr. B. Sudarshan , Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering Dept. of this college is appointed as the Coordinator. Also an advisory body is constituted with some of the faculty members of the college as members to help the coordinator in effective functioning of the cell.

Objectives:

  1. To develop and introduce curriculum on Entrepreneurship Development at various levels including degree/diploma courses of the parent institution.
  2. To organize Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes and faculty development programmes in the region for the benefit of Science and technology persons.
  3. To organize guest lectures, Seminars, etc.for promotion and growth of Science and technology based entrepreneurship.
  4. To arrange visits to industries for prospective entrepreneurs.
  5. To extent necessary guidance and escort services to the trainees in obtaining approval and execution of their projects.
  6. To act as regional information center on business opportunities, processes, technologies, market, etc.by creating and maintaining relevant databases.
  7. To render advice to sick enterprises and assist the entrepreneurs in rehabilitant them.
